Shay Holloway Co-Founder & Treasurer, Board of Directors
“My favorite thing to do is see the joy on their faces as they sing and dance in worship to God.”
The children of Uganda have completely overtaken Shay’s heart. Witnessing these children living without their parents in such a state of poverty and neglect, Shay is overwhelmed by their resiliency to express love and generosity. The children’s uninhibited love for worship has been some of the most impactful moments in his life. “My favorite thing to do is see the joy on their faces as they sing and dance in worship to God. It’s like nothing I have ever experienced before. That’s all they know. They have no distractions, they have nothing else better to do.”
Shay is a native of Thibodaux, Louisiana and has been married to Mandy Holloway for 10 years. He is a 36 year old father of four children. Before he left for his first trip to Uganda, Africa in 2011, he said there were multiple signs confirming that he was supposed to go. When he finally stepped foot in Africa, he felt a release. “I knew this is what we were supposed to be doing, this was it.”
Shay said his main purpose for being a missionary to Uganda is the welfare of the children. Not just their spiritual health, but also their physical health. Shay’s desire is that Refuge 127 can provide the people at the orphanage with medical knowledge and resources to avoid these calamities.
Shay is the co-founder and treasurer of Refuge 127, and as such he is responsible for coordinating the trips to Africa, managing the finances, and providing a detailed agenda for the mission trips.
